Off Peak Hour Lane Closures and Speed Limit Lowered for Trucks on S-Curve of Bay Bridge (11/19/09 6:11 p.m.)
Motorists are advised to use caution and obey the speed limit when navigating the S-Curve on the Bay Bridge, just east of Yerba Buena Island. On-going closures of one to two lanes on both the upper and lower decks during off peak hours are as follows:
Weekdays Westbound: 12pm-3pm and 11pm-5am; Eastbound: 11am-2pm and 11pm-6am.
Weekends Westbound: 11pm(Fri)- 7am(Sat) and 11pm(Sat)- 9am(Sun); Eastbound: 11pm(Fri)-8am(Sat) and 11pm(Sat)-9am(Sun).
The speed limit for trucks has been lowered to 35 mph. The speed limit for cars remains 40 mph. To view a video of the drive through the S- Curve, click here.


MAJOR CONSTRUCTION AND EVENTS

92/880 Interchange Reconstruction Project (11/19/09 6:11 p.m.)
Caltrans continues to rebuild the interchange at the junction of CA-92 and I-880 in Hayward. Motorists can expect lane, ramp and full freeway closures overnights through the duration of this project that is scheduled into 2012. Click here for more info.

Doyle Drive Replacement Project (11/19/09 6:11 p.m.)
Doyle Drive is the portion of Route 101 in San Francisco that runs 1.5 miles along the northern edge of the city, heading to the Golden Gate Bridge and the North Bay. Construction is scheduled to begin in November 2009, occurring adjacent to the entire existing roadway, and includes construction of a temporary detour on the eastern end of the project. Traffic is expected to be transferred onto the completed detour in early 2011 and onto the final roadway in early 2013. For more information on long term ramp closures and detours, click here. US-101 Auxiliary Lane Widening Project in San Mateo (11/19/09 6:10 p.m.)
As part of the Highway 101 Auxiliary Lane Widening project in San Mateo, Caltrans will close access to the northbound U.S. 101 on-ramp at Coyote Point for the construction of the elevated roadway at Airport Blvd. This work phase will continue until late 2009. Northbound traffic leaving Coyote Point will be detoured north on Airport Blvd to Anza Blvd. Southbound traffic leaving Coyote Point will be detoured south on Bayshore Blvd to 3rd Avenue. Yerba Buena Island Ramp Construction (11/19/09 6:10 p.m.)
The Yerba Buena Island eastbound right-hand side off ramp (east of the Yerba Buena Island Tunnel) remains closed for construction until the Bay Bridge project is complete in 2013. Solano County I-80 Pavement Rehab Project (11/19/09 6:09 p.m.)
The pavement rehabilitation project for I-80 is in its final stages, with completion expected in December. The new eastbound I-80 carpool lanes, from Red Top Road to just east of Air Base Parkway, are open and carpool lane hours are 5:00am to 10:00am and 3:00pm to 7:00pm Monday through Friday. Windsor - US-101 Widening and HOV Project (11/19/09 6:08 p.m.)
Caltrans has started road construction to widen US-101 from four to six lanes to expand about 7.6 miles of high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes from Steele Lane in Santa Rosa to Windsor River Road in Windsor. This project will complete one of the remaining portions of the planned continuous US-101 HOV lanes system and is scheduled for completion in January 2010. Click here for more information.
